Two British clubs, Liverpool and Manchester City are scheduled to visit Surabaya in late May. In The City of Heros (Surabaya's nickname), the Reds and The Citizen are scheduled to undergo a
friendly game vs Persebaya U-21 at Stadium Gelora Bung Tomo (GBT).
The news was announced by The Director of Sports of Persebaya, Dhimam Abror Djuraid, Wednesday (16/4) afternoon. "Both teams will come on late May. However, they won't send the first team, rather the reserve team," said Abror.
According to the schedule, both teams will be on tour in Indonesia from May 20 to 30. Before coming to Surabaya, Liverpool and Manchester City will play three games in Jakarta. They will be having a match the Indonesia U-19 , Persija U-21, and Persib U-21.
"But for Surabaya, we do not yet know the exact schedule. I just heard from PSSI that the will come to Surabaya as well," said the
former chairman of the PSSI Pengprov Java (now PSSI's Association of East
Java ).
Abror himself claimed that he has been asked to prepare Yusuf Ekodono's side. "We have already been contacted by PSSI, and they asked Persebaya to prepare the team."
Abror had conveyed this request to Persebaya U-21 coach. "Do not let us completely humiliated by the British clubs. I want them
to try to win the game or at least to perform as equals," he said.
